The month of July closes with a Blue Moon, that is, the second Full Moon of the month, which sets the tone for the month of August. The Sun-Moon opposition occurs in signs that are ends of a spectrum that goes from self-interest to social interest. The Sun is in Leo, which is about self, institutionalized power and concentration of power, whereas the Moon in Aquarius brings a revolutionary and liberating side that fights for equal rights and fair distribution of resources. The axis of the Moon Nodes presents a similar thematic. The South Node, which represents where we are coming from, is in Aries – defense of self through force; and the North Node, which is the lesson to be learned or where we are headed, is in Libra – justice, harmony, and fairness.
The Sun at 7-8° of Leo brings up the following Sabian Symbol: “A Communist Activist Spreading His Revolutionary Ideals”. The Sun is conjunct with Mercury, which enhances communication as people stand up for the ideal of a fair and inclusive society which is community oriented. The Moon at 7-8° of Aquarius brings the image of: “Beautifully Gowned Wax Figures On Display”, leading us into reassessing what we value as a society, the focus on material consumption and on appearances, and its effect on wealth distribution and how it is allocated and spent.
As for the South Node, we have 2-3° of Aries: “The Cameo Profile Of A Man, Suggesting The Shape Of His Country”. Here we have the sense of a blend of the self with the sense of community/origin/roots/country. There is an identification with where you come from and belong, as well as the desire of being recognized and valued for it. There is some danger of an excess in that identification if it comes to the exclusion of others. The North Node shows a solution, or a probable outcome, as we deal with the issues brought up by the South Node and by the Full Moon axis. It points to deep transformation with a positive outcome as we ponder on and are inspired by the Sabian Symbol for 2-3° of Libra: “The Dawn Of A New Day Reveals Everything Changed”.
The archetype of “The Wise Woman of Wonderland” that had presented itself half way between the Full Moons, at the New Moon, is still present. She teaches us how to maintain ourselves above the currents of the collective unconscious in order to evolve in terms of consciousness and spirituality. We also revisit the “Strength” card, which we experienced during the Venus transit through Leo, and take it into another level as we tame the Lion heart in ourselves through an expansion in consciousness. Venus has just left Leo, but has turned retrograde and reenters this sign on August 1 (retrograde until September 5) where it remains until October 8.
The Minor Arcana cards talk about cutting through illusions and going through a deep and broad change of perspective which in turn will lead us into redistributing and reorganizing our energy and use of resources. Recognize who you are, and what you really believe in. Put away the need to fight or being defensive, as we enter the space of harmonious coexistence consciousness. Then we can see what we had been passionately holding on to for a long time, vanish in the air, and we can focus on a balanced energy towards the construction of a life and a world that is more balanced and therefore, has less conflicts, which in the end, comes for the benefit of all.
